CareVida Design System

The problem: With the rising cost of 24-hour elderly care being compounded with the low income levels in North Philadelphia, the role of caregiver often falls on a family member or loved one. With most resources being written in upper-level English, this issue pervades many families.

The solution: A company that creates easily accessible resources that relieve the mental, physical and emotional burdens of taking care of a loved one with Dementia.

It was important for us at CareVida to offer resources that are easily accessible to everyone. This design system include an app, website, a care guide, and activity cards to give our audience the answers they deserve.

Digital Assets

CareVida is committed to offering a digital service that allows the caretaker to create custom care plans that can be shared with other care providers. All the essential resources to feel secure in the care your giving your loved one can be found on these platforms for quick downloading/printing.

A more in depth look.

This video shows you more in-depth about how the app offers caretakers a way to create a cultivated care circle to connect with trusted family members. This will help relieve the primary taker and distribute care between the family evenly. Some important features include step by step directions to doctors’ appointments, ways to plan out your week, easy ways to connect with family, and much more!

Care Guide

The guide is a point of reference for anyone taking care of a loved one. It would be distributed in doctors or specialists’ offices or hospitals at the point of discharge for the dementia patient. Provides information in plain terms, and is distributed in both English and Spanish.

Activity Cards

The activity cards are color-coded based on caretaker involvement and link together in order to visually see the activities lined up. This will help the loved one with Dementia understand what the day will bring for them.

This project was designed in collaboration with Carolyn Barton and Kayla Gerace. We also worked closely with OT students and professionals at Jefferson University.
